Ways to Get Involved
BECOME A MENTOR
We need both male & female mentors. We work with many Hispanic men & women so, while not required, if you are bilingual, even better! What the incarcerated men & women we work with need most is to know the love & hope of God & that someone cares! We have training classes so you don't have to worry that you won't know what to do or say. Most mentoring is done at the jail by video/phone. Mentors pray with their mentees, listen & offer some encouragement, explain processes, provide a fresh prospective & help them make a plan for success after their release!
TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES
We frequently offer an in-jail teaching series on a specific subject (for example, forgiveness) so we need "teachers" (no experience necessary) for these weekly classes that are presented in various jail pods simultaneously. These classes take place on Friday mornings & Friday afternoons (you would select the one most convenient for you).
This volunteer opportunity requires a 16-week commitment for the sake of consistency.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
If you'd like to help, but aren't sure how, let's talk. We are always looking for volunteers who have a heart for what we do, even if it's just helping with fundraising, covering our ministry in prayer or helping with administrative needs.

Another way to connect is to invite a mentee who has been out and is walking with the Lord is to invite them to fellowship at church, to join a bible study or to sponsor them for a Christian event.

Most Importantly, Pray!
Please pray for all of the currently incarcerated men & women in our local county prisons & jails, those recently released and also those in recovery centers that they would come to experience true freedom in Christ, both inside & outside. Pray that God would use The Isaiah 61:1 Project to play a part in that.
